What is Autodesk BIM 360 Team?

Update: In 2021,  Autodesk began the end-of-life process for BIM 360 Team by ending 3-year renewals for BIM 360 Team subscriptions. As os 2022, Autodesk is moving to the next phase of the end-of-life process, ending the 1-year renewal of standalone BIM 360 Team in January 2023 with the plan of retiring BIM 360 Team platform by the end of 2023.

Update: As of April 9, 2018, Autodesk will no longer offer new subscriptions to BIM 360 Team. BIM 360 Team subscribers will have access to the new BIM 360 platform. Existing BIM 360 Team subscribers can continue to renew and use BIM 360 Team in its current form.

Autodesk Subscription and Terminology Changes

Subscribing to Autodesk products and services is the most flexible and efficient way to access and manage the latest design, engineering and software tools to fit both your budget and you business needs.

In the past, Autodesk had offered 3 different types of subscription:

  • Maintenance Subscription
  • Desktop Subscription
  • Cloud Service Subscription

Starting February 1st, 2016, Autodesk has made changes to these subscriptions in order to simplify the process of purchasing Autodesk products and/or services. Today you are able to subscribe to your Autodesk product or services through a term-based offer, meaning you subscribe to the product or service of your choice for a specified amount of time; monthly, quarterly, annual or multi-year terms.

Autodesk 360 Cloud Credits FAQ

Before you read a whole blog post about cloud credits, you should probably be familiar with the basics:  What are cloud credits? They are the unit of measurement required to perform certain tasks, such as creating a rendering or running a simulation in a cloud environment using Autodesk cloud services.

Autodesk cloud credit allocation framework incorporates both “Individual Cloud Credits” and “Shared Cloud Credits.” Every user associated to a license and given permission to perform tasks that consume cloud credits will automatically receive 100 Individual Cloud Credits.  These 100 Individual Cloud Credits are a one-time-only allocation that is granted to a named user when he or she is associated to a license that is on an active maintenance plan or subscription contract.  While these type of credits do not expire, these are for explicit use by named users and cannot be shared, pooled or transferred.  Shared Cloud Credits are purchasable and may be accessed by all users on a contract if they have been given permission to perform tasks that consume cloud credits. Both Individual Cloud Credits and Shared Cloud Credits are tied to a either a maintenance plan or subscription contract and will expire in one year of time of purchase or upon renewal date; whichever arrives first.
