Remington and Vernick Engineers Automates Revit Template for Use Across Multiple Offices and Disciplines

Customer Challenge
Remington and Vernick Engineers (RVE), one of the oldest engineering consulting firms in the country, decided to create even greater efficiency in their already effective AutoCAD workflows by introducing BIM more fully across multiple offices and disciplines. Many consultants had been utilizing Revit for years, using internal and external resources as projects progressed; however, there was a need to develop a Revit template that could streamline the workflow for all parties and projects.
Project Goals
What RVE needed was a single Revit template that collected already established CAD standards from multiple disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection), which could be used by their 13 offices in 4 states. Additionally, RVE required title blocks that could accommodate quickly swapping out information based on the office producing the drawings, the project manager who would be stamping the drawings, and various controls depending on the phase of the project.
Solution
Armed with the highly detailed existing ‘RVE CAD Standards’ document, as well as already developed Autodesk AutoCAD standard files, Nick Marchek worked with the RVE team to develop a cohesive Revit template that could be used effectively by all. By incorporating existing office standards and the requested functionality in one Revit template, the end result was one resource that could be used to help streamline and automate the project workflow across all offices and by all team members.
Business Outcome
With Microsol Resources and RVE working together, we were able to generate a template that could be rolled out to all teams within RVE to streamline the project startup process and help maintain consistency across all projects moving forward.
