What is the future of making things?

The future of making is here, technology is transforming the way that buildings and infrastructure are designed, constructed, and operated. Within the next ten years, the architecture, engineering and construction industry will see more change than most people have seen in their lifetime.

AIA Philadelphia and Microsol Resources’ TechPerspectives have combined forces to present a half-day conference program on October 10th at the Center for Architecture during Design Philadelphia, a week-long celebration of design, technology, and collaborative business practices.

We’re now entering an age of opportunity where a new era of connected technology is radically disrupting the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, built and used. As we enter into the era of connection, the focus of design technology will be the interconnection of data so that we can accurately understand and represent infrastructure and buildings as systems, make well-informed design decisions, and construct and manage buildings and infrastructure with reduced risk and improved outcomes. Learn more about the challenges and opportunities ahead as well as:

  • Gain insight about the three major technology disruptions and how they will reshape your business
  • Discover how connected BIM workflows will help seize new opportunities
  • Leave with an action plan to help you create value and gain a competitive advantage

Join Autodesk’s AEC Evangelist, Lynn Allen to learn how a connected BIM process helps designers, builders, and owners gain a competitive advantage with greater ability to access, share and make enormous amounts of information useful throughout the lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure.

We will also hear from award-winning firm, KieranTimberlake’s team — Fátima Olivieri, Efrie Friedlander and Rolando Lopez as they discuss the power of immersive visualization to promote innovative science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education initiatives. Using the Mars City Facility Ops Challenge case study, speakers will show how information within Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be integrated into virtual reality.

They will share insights gained, while creating an immersive environment for a visionary organization, using Revit software, Autodesk LIVE, and Stingray game engine. Mars City (founded by the National Institute of Building Sciences to recruit a new generation of professionals to work with high-performance buildings) uses BIM and facility maintenance tools to manage a virtual base on Mars.
