We want to take a moment to share some upcoming changes that will affect maintenance plans, as well as Autodesk’s special offer to move licenses from maintenance to subscription that customers may want to consider.
Autodesk believes that Subscription delivers extended capabilities and new functionalities to customers through connected services at a faster pace, and as such it is on a path toward becoming a subscription-only company. To achieve this, and to make it more attractive for maintenance customers to move to subscription, beginning in June 2017, you’ll be able to move your products on a maintenance plan to a subscription for a discounted price. This discount will decrease by 5% in 2018 and another 5% in 2019, so the earlier one switches to subscription, the less it will cost. Additionally, when making the switch the discounted pricing will be locked for up to three years, and Autodesk is expressing that it will continue to offer discounted pricing for those licenses thereafter, provided they are renewed on time.
On the other hand, maintaining licenses will become more costly. Beginning on May 7, 2017, Autodesk is raising prices for maintenance by 5% in 2017, 10% in 2018, and 20% in 2019. This has the effect of making the price of Subscription lower than the price of maintenance for these licenses.
Finally, Autodesk also announced that maintenance plans can now only be renewed for one year at a time.
