Windows 8 Support for Autodesk Products

By Anna Liza Montenegro | IT

So you want to know which Autodesk products are supported on Microsoft Windows 8?  Look no further! Let’s start off by stating that Autodesk intends to support many of their key products with Windows 8 and will continue to add additional products as updates and future versions are released.  As of right now, the Autodesk products listed below work correctly on Microsoft Windows 8 operating system:

  • Autodesk 3ds Max 2013
  • Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2013
  • Autodesk Maya 2013
  • Autodesk MotionBuilder 2013
  • Autodesk Mudbox 2013
  • Autodesk Softimage 2013
  • Autodesk SketchBook Designer 2013

SIDE NOTE: This information only applies to the 2013-2010 versions of all Autodesk products.  Autodesk product versions of 2009 and earlier are no longer supported and are not included in considerations of Windows 8 compatibility.

Both Revit 2013 and AutoCAD 2012 came out before Windows 8 was released. With that being the case, you may experience certain issues that haven’t been documented yet. Internally, we have tested a decent amount of the 2013 product line in Windows 8 and haven’t run into any issues… but then again, we’re not working in a production environment. You should be most aware that the conflicts you may have are generally going to be driver related (graphics card, older plotters etc…) so be sure to check with the developers of those pieces of hardware for Windows 8 specific drivers.

That covers our most recent inquiries regarding Windows 8 support with Autodesk products.  Feel free to leave any questions, comments or helpful tips we may have missed!
