3D Printing

3D Printing is changing the development and manufacturing processes, accelerating time-to-market, and increasing production agility.

Which software works best for 3D printing? Microsol Resources sell, supports, and offers software training for the varied modeling software available and 3D printing workflow.

Is your model made in CAD or BIM 3D print-ready? There are various acceptable file formats depending on the 3D printing technology you are using. Microsol Resources can either fix your model or teach you what is needed to make it ready to print.

GETTING STARTED WITH 3d Printing

Optimizing Rhino Workflow to Revit, AutoCAD, V-Ray & 3D Printing

To be an effective designer today, you need tools to quickly develop your designs and accurately communicate them to all project stakeholders. During this video we demonstrated the Rhino workflow from early design and model exploration to further refinement and documentation using Revit or AutoCAD, using Grasshopper as part of environmental analysis, using V-Ray for Rhino for renderings, and how to use Rhino for 3D printing.

3d Printing TRAINING

Learn what kind of geometry can be 3D printed.  We will discuss the setting and considerations required to ensure the best outcome. We also discuss model resolution and scale. The need for confirmation of size color and finial material properties after post-processing.

Learning how to create 3D printable geometry in various applications like AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and 3DS Max. Prepare your design for 3D printing and check for errors. We will discuss the various techniques for repairing errors.

The benefits and limitations of the various materials and printing technologies. Model optimization, wall thickness, making a model hollow and the need for supports are discussed. We consider the best way to uses less material and consider when appropriate.

3d Printing SERVICES

To print your design, we will need a print-ready file. If you have a 3D solid or watertight model, send it over for a free 3D print evaluation and quote. We will check it for printability, ensure your material and color options are available and correspond with you via email or phone calls regarding print questions and concerns.

For some projects, a free screen share session will be set up to discuss any last-minute adjustments that may be necessary. Please contact one of our 3D printing specialists for a quote.

Design Rules for 3D Printing

The most important thing to remember while designing for 3D printing is the fact that your digital design will become a physical object. In the digital design environment, there are no laws of physics to adhere to, such as gravity.

Anything can be “drawn” in 3D on a digital canvas, but not everything can be 3D printed.

Each 3D printing process has its own limitations. Here are the most important design considerations that apply to all of them that you should keep in mind.
