Autodesk Revit 2020.2 Update is now available via the Autodesk Desktop App or via download you’re your Autodesk subscription website.  With Autodesk’s second point release for Revit 2020, they’ve focused on:

• Navigation tool enhancements
• Productivity
• Coordination and collaboration enhancements
• New automation workflows in Dynamo

Navigation Tool Enhancements

Improved View and Fly-Through Navigation:  

With new enhancements, you can navigate through your Revit model with keyboard shortcuts using directional arrows or W, A, S, D keys to move forward, backward, and side-to-side.  You can also use your mouse to point and pan around, as well as adjust the camera speed, as you move through the model.

Productivity

Enhanced path of travel with waypoints   

Autodesk has provided enhancements for more control and precision for the path-of-travel analysis, including adjustable waypoints.  You can easily add and remove waypoints directly from the ribbon to specify the exact path of travel through your model.

Improved schedule view – Ability to freeze header rows

Added ability to freeze (or lock) /unfreeze (or unlock) the schedule title and header in place to keep them visible when scrolling through a long schedule.

Improved schedule view – Active row highlighted in blue

Currently active cell and row are now highlighted in blue so they can be easily found when working in a lengthy schedule.

Coordination and Collaboration Enhancements

Expose internal point of origin  

Make the internal model point of the origin visible in the workspace to help with coordination by orienting collaborators in view when working with linked Revit models.

View full BIM 360 path in linked files

You can now see the full path of consumed vs. live links of shared models in BIM 360 Design in the Revit ‘Manage Links’ dialog, thereby alleviating the pain associated with tracing file and model origins with collaborated models.

New Automation Workflows in Dynamo

Dynamo 2.3 is the new core package installed with Revit 2020.2, giving you more powerful and flexible nodes for better data discovery and interoperability between Dynamo and Revit.  With added enhancements, you have more control over connector actions, notifications for duplicate or missing packages as you load to nodes, and greater simplicity in how you can handle and manipulate large schedules.  For full features, please see the release notes on The Dynamo blog .

Additionally, for developers, Autodesk has provided the ‘Design Automation API’ for Revit which enables cloud-based access to Revit data without an install of third-party apps.  Developers can leverage cloud automation workflows to simplify tasks and boost productivity.  For an overview, see Autodesk’s October Blog Post.

Dynamo nodes for steel connections which load analysis results 

You can now pull structural analysis data into Revit from Robot Structural Analysis Professional and import that data into your Dynamo workflows; allowing you to select, filter, and place connections based on parameters you’ve defined.  You can also script bulk actions that simplify analytic and design processes.

Dynamo nodes which load steel connections from libraries   

Model faster by using a dedicated Dynamo node which loads steel connection types from your external libraries, including the ability to re-use those from other projects.
