We want to make you aware of recent changes that affect maintenance plans, as Autodesk is now offering the opportunity to move from perpetual licenses(s) on active maintenance plan to subscription. At time of renewal, you can choose to move to subscription for approximately the same cost as your maintenance plan renewal—or switch to an Autodesk industry collection at a special price. When you switch, you can secure your discounted subscription price for up to three years. As long as you continue to renew, you’ll enjoy special pricing, which will be lower than maintenance plan renewal pricing, and the cost of purchasing a new subscription.
Autodesk believes that subscription delivers extended capabilities and new functionalities to customers through connected services at a faster pace, and as such it is on a path toward becoming a subscription-only company. To achieve this, and to make it more attractive for maintenance customers to move to subscription, as of June 2017, Autodesk began offering the opportunity to move your perpetual licenses on a maintenance plan to subscription for a significantly discounted price. Additionally, when making the switch the discounted pricing will be locked for up to three years, and Autodesk is expressing that it will continue to offer discounted pricing for those licenses thereafter, provided they are renewed on time. On the other hand, continuing maintenance for perpetual licenses will become more costly. Beginning on May 7, 2017, Autodesk raised prices for maintenance by 5% and has announced an increase of an additional 10% in 2018, and 20% in 2019. By comparison moving over to subscription will be more cost effective while offering more value.
If the timing to switch to subscription doesn’t work for you now, you can switch next year or the year after—or not at all, and remain on maintenance. Whether you choose to switch to a subscription or renew your maintenance plan, we will continue to provide you the best services and support during this transition.
